Overview

The Level 5 Diploma in Fire Safety and Risk Management qualification is aimed at candidates who are responsible for carrying out fire risk assessments on various types of properties. It combines current Fire Risk Assessment practices with an introduction into basic fire engineering principles, including the new Fire Safety Act 2021.

This qualification is the highest level that can be achieved in fire risk management and was uniquely designed by Endeavour Safety Services. The awarding body for this qualification is ProQual and the regulatory body is the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual).

Delivery is flexible to suit the learner with a mixture of assessment methods available, there are no mandatory classroom session to attend. Units are completed by carrying out a range of fire risk assessments and writing technical reports. Evidence should be provided demonstrating effective decision making by applying standards from various policies or current guidance.

Entry Requirements

Currently employed in a role carrying out Fire Risk Assessments you will have the ability to access supporting evidence. Basic Fire Risk Assessment training is advisable, you must be able to demonstrate to us that you have the experience, skills, knowledge and capacity to achieve this qualification. This is assessed by completion of our pre-registration questionnaire.

Qualification Structure

Mandatory Units:

1 Review fire safety matters ensuing compliance with fire safety regulation and guidance
2 Assess arrangements to ensure an adequate means of warning and escape

3 Identify, assess and control fire hazards

4 Ensure active fire protection provisions are in place and suitable for the premises

5 Assess arrangements to prevent Internal and External Fire Spread

6 Manage fire safety matters in Houses in Multiple Occupation and Residential Care

Assessment

Assessment for the Level 5 Diploma in Fire Safety and Risk Management is by production of a personal portfolio, demonstrating an understanding and application of the standards at this level. This is greatly simplified by our eLearning platform, through which evidence can be electronically submitted.

Duration

The timescale between your initial induction for the course and completion varies. However, 6-9 months is a realistic time – although this can be longer or even shorter, depending on the learner’s ability and availability.
